The journey of the full moon begins.
Martin Martis has been a prolific composer and song writter since he got his hands on a cassette recorder at the age of fourteen. For those who know him, his creative method is unforgettable. Martis says himself that he hears the song so clearly that he can play each part separately. And his agility to move between the instruments allows him to do exactly that. Play the first instrument, whether that be guitar, flute or a melody line. Then whilst listening to the first instrument, he plays and records the second instrument alongside the first. Then the third instrument, and so on, until he has played all the lines, harmonies and rhythms of the piece that he hears. Often amounting to large ensembels around one hundred instruments rich, with full brass sections, percution sections, choirs, strings and much more. Improvising or jamming with himself, he normally only needs one time (or take) from the beginning to the end of a piece to record each instrument.
Pure acoustic.
Martis is a true muliinstrumetalist and embrasses all the instruments. He is very passionate about the emotion and sincerity of music. ‘VAJ.A 11’ started with practicing and ended up in the recording of this peice. Lead by the main theme, he recorded the guitars, then the flutes. Every flute of the ‘ensemble’ is played in one full, sincere take, recorded as it came. Not only that every instrument is played by him, but also every instument is played in one take from beginning to the end with his expertese in live jamming. Filling the music he creates with the beauty, energy and reality of pure acoustic.
