Carving out a new stamp by solidifying eclecticism.
Pulled into the underworld of a smoky night club but in which era? Elements of New York 50’s gangster, ethnic, tribal drums, funk rock fusion from early 2000’s, with tantalising aromas of Africa and exoticism.
Fifteen minutes of sonic madness. Pulling you to dance yet urging you to relax. ‘Smoking Clouds’ seems to epitomise the meaning of the saying ‘it’s about the journey, not the destination’. In a rainbow of influences the only thing to expect is the unexpected. Just when you think you know what its about the song takes a turns in another direction, which should classify as experimental but on the contrary avoids the title completely by an uncanny trick of transitions. The listener is taken seamlessly and coherently from one idea to the next without realising it. Feeling as though you are constantly waking up (or were you listening for days?) in an entirely different genre.
A dream within a dream that drifts and weaves on the pulsing instinctive smoke clouds of the mind. Telling something profound without ever making a point.
